Exploring Art and Finding Inspiration at Every Step

Artist Profile
Nutan is a contemporary Indian-Australian visual artist whose work explores themes of diasporic identity, cultural memory, diversity, and belonging. Born in India and now based in Perth, her artistic practice reflects the rich intersection between the visual traditions of the Indian subcontinent and contemporary Australian culture.
Working across diverse disciplines, Nutan combines traditional Indian artistic techniques—including folk art traditions from various regions of India—with contemporary painting practices. Her work creates a visual dialogue between heritage and modernity, bridging deep cultural roots with the evolving experience of diaspora and migration.
Inspired by Indian folk narratives, symbolism, and contemporary visual expression, her paintings are layered explorations of inclusion, identity, and cultural continuity. Through vibrant forms and symbolic imagery, she creates works that are both deeply personal and universally resonant.
In addition to her studio practice, Nutan is the founder of “Draw ’n’ Learn,” a widely loved creative initiative committed to making art education and artistic entrepreneurship accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.
